This photo was taken at the Castelo dos Mouros in the town of Sintra, a few miles outside of Lisbon. It is now not much more than a large wall, but at one point was a castle and has over the years deteriorated and parts have been rebuilt - but less Moor like. I have seen different castles and palaces before, but nothing quite like this; it is really a spectacular sight. It was not the clearest day, but we were still able to see the ocean and the center of Sintra down below. Also, the hike up from the downtown area, through a park, narrow streets, and eventually the castle grounds was also quite remarkable.
